Mission Statement

Our Mission: To help meet daily needs of some of the most vulnerable in the Brightmoor community of Detroit, assisting everyone with deep respect and dignity.

What We Do to Fulfill Our Mission:

    • Hot lunches twice weekly to all those who come to our soup kitchen
    • Bags of groceries once weekly to those living within our boundaries
    • Coffee and donuts and an opportunity to sit and talk with neighbors and take respite from the

      weather Monday-Friday mornings

    • Use of computers for email, job searches, personal business
    • Assistance by St. Vincent de Paul workers in our office who help our neighbors meet emergency

      needs that would otherwise go unmet

    • Periodic healthcare such as flu shots, blood pressure screenings, dental care, foot care
    • Fresh produce from our garden behind the office center
    • Use of our soup kitchen space by neighborhood groups for meetings, weekly children’s activities

AND ALL THIS WITH THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEER HOURS, AND ONLY TWO PART-TIME PAID STAFF!
